Ballard Corners Park

A communiy effort inspired the creation of this new park in Ballard. The rain garden provides a beautiful array of native plants, wildlife habitat, and a safe buffer for children to play.

Designed by Barker Landscape Architects, installed and maintained by volunteers including Phoebe Fine and neighbors of Ballard Corners Park

Why build a rain garden?

When a landscape is covered in natural vegetation, most rainfall soaks into the ground. As we start adding roofs, driveways, and streets, much of the rainfall can't soak into the ground anymore, creating problems for people and for our streams. Rain gardens are an easy way for all of us to do our part to protect our streams and rivers from flooding and pollutants.

Select neighborhoods in Seattle and King County may receive rebates to install rain gardens and cisterns on their property to mitigate water runoff. The dollar amount for the rebate will be determined by how many square feet of roof runoff are controlled.

At Fine Design, we offer the latest techniques for capturing rain water and directing it to your garden. Our rain garden design will enhance your landscape with beautiful, hardy, and low-maintenance plants, while providing habitat for birds, butterflies, and other benficial insects.
